I called H&B Plumbing and Heating on a Friday, after I attenmpted to turn on my A/C and the circulation fan failed to start. When I called I expected to get someone out to my home the following week to look at my A/C system.

The H+B Plumbing team were thoroughly knowledgeable with the heating issue that we were facing with our remodeling project. They offered us the perfect solution. They kept in contact with us effectively and arrived on time and with everything they needed for the job. Everyone at H+B, including the office staff, foreman and the professionals that completed the work were of the highest standard.
I would not hesitate to recommend H+B Plumbing and Heating to everyone. They are going to be my first call for all of our Plumbing and heating needs now and in the future. Randy and Robin Benedict thanks for everything.

Wow! Here's our H&B experience. We needed a plumbing job done in our Earleville home, and as we are just down the road from H&B's office in Chesapeake City, I called them up. A nice guy came around (Gregg) on Thursday (Dec.2), we discussed the job, and he promised he would work up the estimate "on the weekend or next Wednesday at the latest" as this was apparently his "office day".
The weekend, then the next Wednesday, came and passed with no contact and no estimate. Then another week passed, then ~another, with no contact and no estimate. On Dec.21 I contacted their office and was immediately emailed an estimate document - an estimate with an acceptance due date of Dec.18 and a price of $0.00. I called back and the representative indicated she had not noticed the incomplete estimate before sending, and would get with the estimator. It's now 2022.
No contact, no revised estimate. Needless to say, another company is doing the work. What is disappointing about this company isn't so much that they obviously don't want to do the job, it is the incredible disrespect shown to a potential customer by their lack of contact. We wasted many days waiting in good faith for a response from them. Good luck being a customer of this company! We won't be.

I called H&B for a technician to come out to look at my furnace, which was blowing cold air. While they were prompt to arrive, I was first told by the technician that my fee for him to come out would be "about $113", but when he returned with my paid invoice, I had been charged $139, without being told or authorizing this amount prior to. He said that my unit was quite old and that IF they were able to get the part needed, it would be very expensive, "probably around $1,000".
I told him that I had done my own research and found the part online for $365, to which he said "Oh, well I dont know what it costs!", after just having told me it could be upwards of $1000. The next morning I received a call from Kathy who quoted me over $1200 for the job. I asked how much they were planning to charge for the part itself and told her that I found it online for $365 as a reference.
She replied (in an extremely rude tone) "Well if you found it for that much than maybe you should just buy that!" I asked her again how much she planned to charge for the part, which she responded, "We mark up the pricing, JUST LIKE ANY OTHER BUSINESS DOES, and we'll charge you $860 just for the part". I ended the call, based on the more than 200% mark up on the part and her rude disposition.
I luckily found another company in the area who told me the part would be "around $400" and they would do the work for $750-$800. I would NEVER recommend this company. Unprofessional and it felt like I was being taken advantage of.

Called on-call services before business hours and contacted immediately after they opened to schedule service. Gregg showed up exactly when they said they would arrive (10am). Extremely pleasant and efficient process all around, especially during a major heat wave. Highly recommend H&B and will certainly use them again in the future. Service: A/C system maintenance

Hi, my name is Lyn. Recently, I had a v. good experience with H&B Plumbing. I had two issues-one major, and one minor. The minor issue was there was a small leakage (no clog) in the sink drain, of a bathroom. (It was getting a bit of water onto my stuff below the sink.) (It was fixed.) Also, for free, he kindly helped me install my new air filter (into the Br.) Then, he fixed a HVAC leakage issue for me, and tested it for safety, twice after it was re-sealed (to prevent leakages).
The person I had, (__n) was excellent--diligent, knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, patient. I don't understand the previous (-) review (by some1 else in Wilmington), so that's why I'm leaving this review (in recompense), to help out H&B. (Also, it was a good price, only $250.) So, I highly recommend. (No complaints!)

We had them out to install two complete HVAC units and the Pressure Tank for our well. Since we were doing both units, we shopped around to compare prices and the different manufacturer's. H&B came in with the best option and value for our money and their professionalism was top notch. All the technicians that came out were very respectful and did a great job installing everything to be neat and tidy. Gregg answered all our questions and was very accommodating with our schedules. Overall, we had a great experience with them and will continue to recommend them to our friends and family.

I have used H & B for 20 years and their service has been very good - but not cheap. I have been OK with that but. On July 4th my AC stopped cooling the house air. We called H & B and they asked if was an emergency, we said Yes as I'm 86 and it was a very hot day. They said it would be a $ 150 (Holiday) Dispatcher Fee. The Serviceman arrived promptly, found the problem to be a Capacitor and replaced it - all in about an hour but he charged $ 410 for Labor and the Capacitor. With a total $ 560 cost, I can't help feeling I was overcharged this time and will not all call them again.

Worst plumber ever. Kid came out to house dressed in home clothes like he just got out of bed. Old sneakers, did not put any floor protector on shoes. Old tub of tools. Knew there was a leak and ran dishwasher that leaked all over again. Wanted to put dishwasher back without allowing anything to dry. Had trouble pulling dishwasher and continued to yank at it marking up counter. Flashlight was his old flip phone. Took no care in protecting anything, kept flinging metal screwdriver and kept hitting front of dishwasher with it. WORST PLUMBER EVER!

Professional and honest service from Randy and the owner. They didn't try to pull one over on us, they were real and spoke plainly. I cannot recommend them enough. We used them a couple times because we just moved to the area and we pulled their name from a hat. Randy was able to come out within hours and provided us with excellent and honest service. Cathy at the office was very patient and accommodating with our very stressful phone calls. They were able to fix the problem with our well and now things are working great. I highly recommend their services.

Don't use these guys for HVAC they sent a guy to my condo for three day he was poking and hoping the entire time wasting my time and billing me for their incompetence after $1200 repairs in March had to replace entire unit with new one from another contractor in June maybe they should stick to toilets. They never returned my call for the problem

I have used H&B for a major home expansion through my general contractor as well as for my restaurant business directly. I have found them to be very professional and their workmanship is great. In fact I called them into to straighten out work that a previous plumber did that was faulty. I highly recommend H&B Plumbing based on my experiences.

Ridiculous! Called HB Plumbing and said my AC/heating system needs to be recharged because it has a leak. They sent some guy out who diagnosed the system and told me my heating system had a leak, and that the one-hour diagnosis would cost $200. He "determined" that it was the compressor, and that HB was going to have to take the entire system apart to fix it for a whole lot of money -time and materials at $100/hr or so.
Since the compressor was under warranty, I called the original installer (Airserve DE), who determined there was a leaking fitting, but that the compressor was fine. Airserve fixed the fitting and charged the system no problem. Been working ever since (9 months ago). Meanwhile HB continues to send me bills with finance charges to tell me what I told them, and then to give me a false diagnosis, and will not waive the bill for their false "diagnosis". I guess I will go ahead and pay the $225. But heres my recommendation.

The original plumber came out because of our slow to drain toilet did some inside reaming and checking. He figured that the big problem was in two pipes, noted that the toilet would need a new wax ring due to leakage there and said he would come up with an estimate that very night. He charged $180 for all his efforts and left. I called the office wondering what was going on to find out that the person who does the parts estimates was out on annual leave.
Eventually we had an estimate for $750 for replacing and cleaning pipes and the, which would include replacing the existing toilet with one we would buy. We finally decided that we wanted to get this done, so we arranged for someone to come between 12 - 4 PM on the particular day. Early that morning we were out walking the dog, when I got a call on my cell phone telling me that the caller (from H&B) was parked in our driveway and wondering where I was.
The two early bird plumbers were polite. One of them did stink up the basement with tobacco smoke, but stopped when I objected. The $750 estimate got ignored when the plumbers found some problems the original fellow had apparently not noticed, so the total became $850. However, even with the new pipes and toilet, it only flushed about as well as it had before they had started.
For another $180. I could have had them send someone else out on presumably the same day with the right equipment to deal with what was now touted as the remaining problem. This was a partial blockage between the house and septic tank. I figured that this company had gotten enough of my money for one lifetime and declined that offer. Following my original post here, the company did send two men out at no charge to us in order to ream out the outflow to the septic tank. After this the toilet now flushes fine. I have added a star to the original one.
