I highly recommend Rapidan for any plumbing need. We had a water leak from an unknown source. Rapidan inspected and offered recommendations so we could make an educated choice about what to do about it. Turned out it was nothing major & something we could fix on our own. I appreciated the technician was honest, knowledgable, professional and on time. The service call fee was very reasonable.

Rapidan ripped me off today, I wish I would have read these reviews first. I agreed to a $49 service call fee. As soon as they got here they quoted me $400+ to unclog one toilet. I paid the service fee so please don't claim I'm not a customer. If I had any idea they charged that much money to use a drain auger I never would have agreed to have them out here.
The tech even said that happens a lot to them so clearly they know they are taking peoples money. Edit.just a quick update, I was able to clear the drain myself after buying a better plunger that was less then $10. Wish I had started there.

WHAT A RIP OFF! Do yourself a favor and select another company. These people gouge you. TOTALLY OVERPRICED. I should have researched more to realize how this company takes advantage of it's customers. Sky high prices.yes. a Ripoff. Don't let them take advantage of you as they did me! We have been using Rapidan Plumbing for a few years now. From unclogging clogged tub and shower drains, to replacing and installing hot water heater and sump pump to fixing and replacing toilets. recently we had a new toilet installed. Unknown to us and Rapidan, the toilet had a hairline crack up underneath inside the toilet which caused a slow leak and then water damage. Rapidan found the leak with the toilet, worked to have the floors repaired and the ceiling painted. The owner of the company came out to inspect and we could not be happier with then results. Top notch service. Highly recommend.

I cannot say enough good things about Caleb Newton from Rapidan Plumbing. During a recent plumbing emergency, Caleb came out to our house on a Sunday, implemented a stop-gap measure, and was back the next morning with the parts and equipment needed for a permanent fix. Throughout the process, he explained every step thoroughly, was polite and efficient.
At all times, he tried to mitigate our inconvenience at having to do without water. He was completely professional and my husband and I would recommend him unequivocally to anyone needing an experienced and trustworthy plumber.

These 2 stars are for the prompt response time out to my property towards the end of the day. While I appreciated that, I did not appreciate the insane quote they gave me of nearly $1800 to replace my well pressure tank and T valve assembly. I paid them $59 for their service call fee, and sent them on their way. I studied up on Google and YouTube, and ended up doing it all myself for under $300. I feel bad for anyone in a pinch that has to bend over and pay these prices. I understand companies need to make a profit to stay in business, but this is outlandish.

I had asked for a master plumber to come to my home since I have an underground line leak. Rapidan sent a technician who talked down to me, was very rude and had an assistant with him who kept grimacing as this plumber by the name of caleb P. degraded me. He was very disrespectful I am a woman and elderly. Caleb had me shut off my main valve to the home and then he drained all the water in the pipes.
When I flushed my toilets after he left brown dirt was in the water. He gave me two estimates-one for just digging a hole by the water meter which would cost $2,100 and a repair if found a leak there for another $598.00. The estimate for replacing the water line was close to $10,000 and he would tear my driveway up and my sidewalk and I had to fix it not included in the price. He wasted my time and obviously did not come to my home to fix anything or offer assistance but to harrass me.

Got the job done, although at an excessively high price. With urgent plumbing problems, we were told it would be complicated and given a fairly high price. But, they could do it. Then after partial excavation, they found more complications, and raised the price to complete the repairs. This is like holding you hostage. I should have objected to the initial excessive price, will next time. I hope the repair stands the test of years, because it was costly. The company must be doing very well financially.

We had a burst pipe and were in a bit of of a time crunch to get it fixed. I called Rapidan Plumbing because they were less than a mile away. They came out within the hour and the service was great. When the technician gave me the estimate, however, I was in shock. The job took all but an hour to replace a shut off valve, and was over $500. When I called and asked about their hourly rate, I was told that they charge by the job and not by the hour.

June 2018. Past service was good, so I scheduled with Rapidan again. I was charged $50 for the visit. The tech told me it would cost $338 - flat rate - to hook up my ice maker. I was floored. I asked several times about different possible hookups but his answer was always. $338 - flat rate - do you want the service or not? No explanations or clarifications, just a "Take it or leave it attitude." After the third terse response, I left it.
I went online when I came home and found out that all I needed to do was connect my existing water line to the ice maker via a not readily visible port; a simple 5 minute job. I felt stupid for not understanding how simple it was, yet Rapidan plumbing was going to completely change the water connection (which I know know was totally unnecessary) and charge me $338. This company is not to be trusted and will scam you for services you don't need. DO NOT CALL THEM for service

The customer service and response time were very good. However, I was presented with a 526.00 estimate to run a snake from my septic to my toilet. This was AFTER my son pretty much dug up the access lid and that took all of about 10 minutes, and very little effort on the plumbers part. I balked at the price, and paid the nice plumber the $60.00 service fee in order for him to leave.
I found another CERTIFIED PLUMBER in my area to perform the same service for less than 250.00. I would just like to know how you would justify charging so much? Should maybe your service personnel have taken into account the easy access to the area and adjusted their estimate accordingly? Still - not a happy camper. Wouldn't recommend.

Rapidan was hired to fix a backed up bathtub as a contingency to purchase of our new home. Hired by the seller, they fixed it and gave a 90 day warranty. After closing, we noticed the bathtub was still backing up. When we called Rapidan to come back to again fix the problem (less than 30 days later), they told us they would not honor the warranty.

I contacted this company on 5/13/2016 and requested emergency service. The lady on the phone said no one was available until Saturday 5/14/2016 between 1-4pm. On Saturday, I contacted the company at 3pm just to see when the technician would arrive, and the lady said she didn't have my request on their list. How pathetic! Needless to say I will never call this company again, and will urge family and friends to call a different company.

I live in Fredericksburg, VA and recently found my gas water heater was leaking from the Temperature and Pressure (T&P) valve. Called Rapidan Plumbing (http://www.rapidanplumbing.com/) (A+ rated at the BBB) to get an estimate for inspection and repair and was able to get a Saturday morning appointment. The technicians arrived on time, quickly determined the problem and gave me three options to complete repairs.
I chose to have them replace a faulty expansion tank and the T&P valve at a cost of $750.00. The repairs were completed in under two hours. Additionally, they alerted me to a potential problem with over pressurizing of the Stafford County Utilities water coming into my house. I have subsequently alerted my HOA about the possible community water-pressure problem. I would highly recommend Rapidan Plumbing for future plumbing needs.

I called for service this morning for a leak in my basement, but needed an appointment today. My experience with Rapidan Plumbing Inc. was great from the initial service call to them completing my work. Caleb was very professional and did an excellent job explaining what he needed to do in order to repair the leak in my basement foundation. He was really clear with me that he wouldn't perform ANY work unless I approved of it. I'm very thankful they could come out on such short notice and took very good care of me and did everything in a timely efficient manner.
I work with vendors everyday in my job and I must say that Rapidan Plumbing sets a high standard for customer service. I have already inquired about pricing for another plumbing job needed at my home and will gladly refer Rapidan Plumbing to family and friends.

We have been using Rapidan for more than 5 years. We searched high and low for a honest and knowledgeable plumbing company and are so pleased we found Rapidan. Every technician we have experienced has been fantastic, hard workingn and respectful. Nathan has been to the house the last two times and on the most recent visit, demonstrated he remembered his previous visits and our conversations we had. He was very thorough and quick and explained the problem and his remedy. I can't recommend this company enough. After 5 years of use, we couldn't be happier.

My septic pump would not turn on. The technician Shawn showed up at the house and asked to look at the system. My wife, who was home alone, agreed. He went out back and looked at the system. Approximately two hours later, he came back to the house with a bill for 337 dollars for "troubleshooting". He claimed there was a wire that had lost contact with the board and that he soldered it for free. So, for 337 dollars I got what amounts to a brand new pump and 2 hours of labor for a simple 30 second fix (if that was even what was wrong).
When the tech called me back, I asked why there was a 69.95 charge just for showing up to the house and then a 337 dollar unannounced fee just for troubleshooting the system and he told me thats the way it is. He said if there were any repairs needed it would have been added to the 337 dollars! He makes almost 175 dollars an hour for his labor, according to his math! Technically what he did was probably illegal, performing maintenance on my system without my consent and then charging me an arbitrary amount for it.
To top it all off, he quoted a replacement pump for 2500 dollars and a new control box for 1500 dollars, insinuating that this was somehow the amount of money he saved her. He clearly took advantage of a pregnant woman who had no working plumbing.

Filled out their form online last night and got a call at 8am this morning, was told someone would be out mid morning. Called at 10am for an update and was then told mid afternoon. Called at 1:00 for an update and was told a few more hours. Started looking for someone else to come out and when I called them back to let them know I no longer needed their services, Theresa the lady I had speaking to all day breathed heavily at me with irritation. After I have been waiting all day on my Saturday for them.

After having 2 plumbers come out to my house for a leaking toilet, I decided to give this one a try after seeing that it had a good review on yelp. Yes.all I had was a leaking toilet and it took 3 plumbers to get it fixed. I called Rapidan and explained the situation to the lady that answered the phone. She was pleasant and patiently listened to me go on and on about my headache.
She indicated that someone would be able to come out the next day. I explained that I wouldn't be home and that I wanted the plumber to call me with an estimate before doing any work. ( Yes, I was scammed the previous 2 times.but at least I can admit it. :) The plumber called me first thing in the morning and gave me a detailed account of the problem and what was wrong.
He was EXTREMELY PROFESSION AND COURTEOUS! (Sadly, it's something that I am far to used to not receiving.remember those days when people used the words "sir" and "maam".and "please" and "thank you".) The price was in line with what I expected to pay and he had the job completed in 45 minutes. The previous plumbers spent hours DOING NOTHING! And this guy had it done in less than an hour. I will definitely use their services again and highly recommend them.

We called them to deal with a blocked main line. After 3 hours of trying to snake the pipes the plumber came out to me and said "Ma'am your sewer is broke." He was very polite and waived the $50.00 fee for coming out to assess the situation. That said, he did not resolve the problem, charged me $195.00 for taking my toilet off and then hooking it up again (needed to do so to use the snake) and told me I needed a procedure that would cost a minimum of $1,800.00 (possibly as much as $6,900.00) to resolve the problem. I called a second plumber to take a look and using a method he called "blowing out" the pipes the problem was resolved for $350.00. We will NOT be calling Rapidan again.

I'm giving them a big ZERO not because they do bad work, but because they over charged me for my Job. I had a leaky shower faucet that had to be replaced. I needed the job done within a day because I was going on vacation and did not want to come back to a flooded house. I felt they took advantage of my situation and charged me more than was reasonable.
I will never use them again and will not recommend them to anyone. I called them because I've been the area for years and have know the business name for many years. The tech was between a rock and a hard place. He was very embarrassed to have to charge me so much. I paid them reluctantly. Mike Va.

We saw a Rapidan Plumbing truck at our neighbor's home so we called the number on the truck and arranged for them to drop over after they finished at our neighbors. The plumber who was sent was very nice. We wanted a simple wash tub installed on the other side of a wall where a bathroom sink was installed. He gave us an estimate of $769. We were startled but since he was there and I had been told a $49. dispatching fee would be charged if we did not go with the deal.
In retrospect, we should not have taken the deal because the price was outrageous. We were too meek. Surprisingly, the company called us twice to ask what we thought and we said the price was too high. They sent us a Thank you card. I spoke to some people in an art class I was taking and another person said they also got a horrendous charge for a simple job.
