We hired Charles A Klein & Sons recently to have central heat and AC put in our 103 year old home. Everyone from the PM Matt, to the install team, and even the office staff (Christy) were friendly, helpful and knowledgable. They were reasonably priced, did a beautiful, clean install and had the knowledge to address every one of our concerns about our old home along the way. Really can't thank you all enough!

Replaced thermostat - I later learned that thermostat is under warranty. They provided a lesser model in its place and told me they would not get an equal model. The bill was $252 - That included a discount because I am a service contract customer. I complained because the tech spent less than one hour - I think the cost is waaaaay above reasonable. I will pay it and consider it tuition. I learned a lesson and paid for it.

Critical: Professionalism, Responsiveness Their service isn't bad when you can actually reach them, but their prices have gotten to be out of control, the highest in the area. Used them for 20 years but now that they have compromised customer service for greed, we will be using another HVAC company with better responsiveness and reasonable prices.

I would give zero stars if it was an option; they were that bad. Multiple phone calls, with messages, went unreturned when we tried scheduling an initial appointment, but since they serviced our HVAC last summer, I kept trying. on 6/11, I was able to schedule an appointment for 6/16, but they couldn't give me any window of time. The technician came on 6/16, diagnosed that we needed a new blower motor, quoted us a price, and said it'd get ordered.
On 6/18 they called back and asked if they should order the part and quoted us a different price. Fine. Finally got it installed on 6/23 and within an hour after the tech left, I knew it still wasn't working right, but no way in heck was I going to try and reach them for another week to have someone come out sometime in July. Called a new company who came out same day (6/24), diagnosed, and fixed it.
On 6/18 they called back and asked if they should order the part and quoted us a different price. Fine. Finally got it installed on 6/23 and within an hour after the tech left, I knew it still wasn't working right, but no way in heck was I going to try and reach them for another week to have someone come out sometime in July. After waiting for over a month for a plumber to come to my house to verify if my water utility pipe was leaking, I had to another another 10 days to even get a quote that didn't even real numbers. They only provided a standard rate fee an hour. Why take 10 days? Who knows! I didn't mention anything about the required permit with public works.
It mentions a warranty for a gas pipe, even though we are only working with water here. T that the price is valid for 30 days because of the steel market condition (the water line is copper) not impressed. By the way, the plumber himself was great, I hope I only had to deal with him, but the company is not a good match.

Horrible company to work with! There was a conflict with a charge and I called them and they said they would get back to me and they never did! I called multiple times and they just kept sending bills without ever replying to me about my complaint! We will never use them again and if you're smart you won't either!

Very poor service. Came in and started replacing things without understanding the problem. Tried to charge me for parts that were under warranty. They replaced my $300 thermostat, that didn't need to be replaced, with one they said cost $290. I found the same thermostat on Amazon for $50. Two days after they were here my heating system failed again.
They were supposed to call me to schedule someone to come out. It has now been two weeks so far and they haven't gotten back to me. I finally decided to call another company for service.

I see my system has your name on it you came to my home a few years ago and installed my system. Thank you very much, . it functioned up until a few weeks ago. now I have no air condition. I attempted to put off the main power and back on I placed the switch from on to off and back on again it did not work.the system continues to blow out hot hair in a very hot day. please help me if you can.

The Best of the Best! We needed a new A/C System. The one we had turned out to be Garbage. Charles Klein put in a new Trane A/C System. Its the Best A/C we ever had. They were polite, Professional; they did it in one day. They even replaced the copper line from the A/C unit to the inside system, which had problems anyway. They replaced it with 7/8 new copper, which is at least twice the diameter, then we had before. It works like a charm. We have no complaints, whatsoever! Thank you Guys!

We have used this group for 3 year now. This was a default choice as we inherited them from our builder. I have not written any reviews up until this point but people should know not to use this company. They're beyond awful. I cannot even begin to recount the number of times they've dropped the ball. Then they give you a crotchety attitude when you're disappointed in their ignorance. If I could leave negative stars I would!

GREAT experience with this company! When I called to say our heater wasn't working, the wonderful woman who answered the phone was able to get someone out to our house the same day, AND even worked with me on the time so that my husband would be home. Curtis was the technician who came to our house and he was amazing as well. He was able to replace our heat pump motor the same day so we had heat that night.
He was very kind and professional throughout the entire process, and made sure everything was up and working properly before he left. The rates were reasonable, and I would highly recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Charles A Klein has gone way down hill. We had used them for years as they installed the systems in our Trinity home. I tried to have them come out for our spring maintenance service. Three times they did not show up. They blamed the first two rounds on a new computer system. After the third no show, I asked for a refund as the service contract was pre paid. Patrice who has been zero help claimed she could not issue a refund.
I ask to speak with a Manager or someone who could help and no response for days. I sent an email to their auto system through the website and received a message from Mike Klein who said he would contact me. Three days later and zero contact. I have emailed him each day saying I was still awaiting his call. DO NOT USE CHARLES A KLEIN. I am reporting to BBB and MHIC.

Update. Someone called to verify my cancelled appointment on the very same day I posted my earlier review. I told them I had cancelled the appointment due to their lack of response and that we had emailed them ( at a specific person's email address) for a refund on our service contract. They promised a manager would call back but they did not. I had to file a BBB complaint but we Received a refund 9/5/18.

Outstanding customer service from the company personnel to the technicians! Staff is always courteous and professional and very accommodating in scheduling repair service. Ms. Joanne is awesome! After explaining that that the temperature in my house had been over 100 degrees for about four days, she really worked to find an available technician to come out the next day so my family I would not have to suffer through the weekend.
The technician who came was on vacation but he came off vacation and arrived earlier than the scheduled time. He determined the problem and was out in an hour! I have been so pleased with the level of service that I am planning to sign up for a maintenance plan.

This review is for their technician - Curtis. We recently purchased a new home that Charles A Klein did the HVAC for. We have a heat pump with propane backup. After getting a whopper of a bill for 400 gallons of propane after just having it filled to capacity 6 weeks earlier, we called up Charles Klein to have them come out and figure out what was wrong. Curtis figured out pretty quickly that there were two problems, one with the setting on the thermostat itself, and the second that there was no electrical going outside to the heat pump.
Within a half an hour he had everything running again and set up so we should have no more unexpected propane surprises. THANK YOU CURTIS FOR A JOB WELL DONE. I wish more companies had such courteous and knowledgeable staff.

HORRIFIC SERVICE! The technicians damaged my vent by completely removing the flapper. I have been contacting for correction for going on a month. The company then tried to get out of the cost for the repair of the flapper that THEY damaged. This matter resulted in me REMOVING A DEAD BIRD FROM THIS HOLE. This morning there are more birds creating a nest and I still have not heard from Amanda, Chuck, nor Mike Klein to schedule this correction.

Literally saved me THOUSANDS of dollars. I had another company come out and inspect my malfunctioning AC system. That company advised that the system was shot and needed to be replaced, even though the system was only 5 years old. I had CA Klein come out and do an inspection. Their tech friwndly and knowledgeable and was able to identify a relatively minor problem with the system and corrected it in about 30 minutes. So grateful for the honesty of this company and their technician for not taking advantage of my ignorance when it came to HVAC systems. Cannot reccomend this company enough!

Called them to address a problem with the short cycling of our air conditioner. Was given a window of 1300-1600. The guy showed up at 1700. On top of that he didn't say much, apologize or anything. Just came in looked at it, went outside to check who knows what, and then within 24 minutes came back inside looking at his phone (calculating the costs, I'm sure) and stated that it would be $200.
I asked for a write-up/receipt and he said just write an email on the check and they'd send it later. Later when my husband called and asked for the receipt they just sent the total, no write up of what the guy actually did. Totally don't understand how he came to that figure, can only speculate. Suffice to say the short cycling problem is still present.
Service was unbelievably unsatisfactory. I feel like we just threw away $200 only to still have a busted AC in stupidly hot weather. Use Angie's List or something and find a more reputable service, as this one is likely to leave you highly upset and/or frustrated with your original problem not fixed or broken even worse.

Working on my rehab for my home has been extremely difficult, but the one smooth project was working with Charles A. Klein. They came out right away for the proposal and walked me through the options. i had other quotes for the same job but Charles A Klein came in at the least expensive. They installed a split heating and cooling system in the attic and basement with new duct work in just a few days.
They continue to be there for me with any questions that i have and issues that i have run into. I am so glad i went with them. If you are doing a remodel you should def go with them. Thanks guys!

They did the work through our builder for our house in 2012. Master bath tub faucet never worked. We called them now to get it fixed and the guy that came broken the faucet further and never came back to fix it again. Rude customer service. Stay away from them. Eventually called another plumber and had to pay over $500 to get it fixed.

I used this company some time ago - but i'm still new to yelp and making sure i hit the places that need to be written about. So. Had a little plumbing emergency. Well - the honest answer is - i broke the toilet. No, not what your thinking. I thought i could be the plumber and fix a problem and i ended up making it much worse. Yay me, right? Anyway - time to call in the pros.
How do you pick a plumber when there are millions out there? Ask someone! This company was referred to me by a neighbor. Anyway - called for service - said they'd be there that afternoon.and they were. Didn't have to wait too long and the guy that came (sorry don't remember your name) was nice. Quick and efficient too. Next came the bill.
I really wasn't sure what to expect. They had to replace some parts blah blah blah and of course the labor. I was guessing 200ish? Nope. More like 100 bucks. A steal as far as i was concerned. And to be honest - i don't know how much any of that stuff is supposed to cost. But a service call 3 hours after i asked for it? Quick awesome service? And of course a working bathroom again. I would have paid more. Thanks for the service - when the time comes - we'll use you again!

I just wanted to relate my experience of "BEWARE" This company recently did some plumbing for me and the work was fine, but the estimate of what was to be done was so far off base. I was told my job would take two hours, and cost @ $200. Well, in reality it was $538. Their estimator did such an inadequate job. I have tried to contact Mike Klein by phone over 4 times to relay my experience so he can improve his business practices, but he must not care, as he has not even given me the courtesy of a return phone call.
